Berlin: Tag Eins...

We decamped at the flat of former Dense Productions co-conspirator Tim Tetzner, washed the new leather scent of our share-ride host's sedan from our beaming mugs, and made a beeline to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt to catch the premiere of the Rational/Irrational exhibition...

With CP's promoter pal Barbara Speer and James Cook (from the UK combo Nemo) along for the deathride, we dropped into the Rockpalast to catch a set from Stan & Laura. Another of Claudia's Berliner friends, Birgit Mild (editor of the excellent 2004 documentary Fallen Angel: Gram Parsons), joined us soon after our arrival. Minutes after Stan & Laura's agreeably mournful set concluded, the "stage" was stripped and De Sica's Bicycle Thief began to unspool. 'Twas a grand evening marked by collisions of increasingly-strange bedfellows...
