From "Der ewige Tag"...

Images shot outside Local Fist in the Passerelle (the mostly abandoned subterranean mall adjacent to Hannover's central train station, or Hauptbahnhof) during the May 22nd vernissage for Wolfgang Höpfner's 28-hour (!) video documentary from 1983, Der ewige Tag ("The Eternal Day"). Embedded into the ruin of the mall (selected ravaged storefronts were re-opened, with their woeful contents recycled as narrative elements), with period posters, designed by Höpfner, affixed to doorframes and crumbling columns, the cumulative effect -- one sending up the notion of utopian design -- was stirring. Superb urban art, flawless in its execution, witheringly satirical in every detail...
