A fiery poet, contentious, possessed, brilliant, powerful. I sometimes found her exasperating, which is male-sprecht for "she pushed the buttons that most needed to be pushed." I name-checked her in "Mizrahi Speculum," a song from To Live and Shave in L.A.'s second album, "Helen Butte" vs. Masonna Pussy Badsmell," and quoted her signature work, Diving Into the Wreck, in its chorus.
